To deepen the understanding of Taiwan’s "Five Trusted Industry Sectors" and core policy initiatives for the 50 future diplomats, President H.E. Amb. Jessica Lee led a delegation of 50 trainees on a comprehensive three-day study trip across central and southern Taiwan from March 31 to April 2.
On March 31st, the mission commenced at the National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology (NCSIST), where former President Kao Chung-hsing provided firsthand insights into the development of the Hsiung Feng anti-ship missile series. The group then traveled south to the Asia UAV AI Innovation Application R&D Center. Under the guidance of Tainan City Government Deputy Secretary-General Yin Shih-hsi and representatives from National Formosa University, trainees examined the domestic drone supply chain and witnessed a demonstration of Taiwan’s largest multi-rotor UAVs.
On the 2nd day, the delegation visited the Shalun Smart Green Energy Science City and the Cybersecurity & Smart Technology R&D Center. Discussions led by industry experts emphasized the principle that "Cybersecurity is National Security," a critical pillar in establishing "Non-Red" supply chains.
The tour continued to Chimei Hospital’s Intelligent Healthcare Center, where Superintendent Lin Hung-jung shared successful models of "medical diplomacy" and AI integration in clinical care. The day concluded at Delta Electronics’ Southern Taiwan Science Park plant, featuring a tour of Taiwan’s first megawatt hydrogen electrolysis and fuel cell laboratory.
The final day of this mission began at the National Sports Training Center in Kaohsiung. CEO Chao Shih-chiang, a legendary figure in Taiwan baseball, showcased the state-of-the-art facilities and physical therapy units supporting Taiwan’s elite athletes. The mission concluded at Delta Electronics’ Taoyuan R&D Center, where trainees observed smart vertical farming systems—a high-tech agricultural solution Taiwan has successfully exported globally for years.
Throughout the tour, host organizations provided in-depth briefings aimed at equipping the new generation of diplomats with a clear vision of Taiwan’s competitive advantages. President H.E. Amb. Jessica Lee encouraged the trainees to leverage these industrial strengths in their future postings to foster international cooperation and expand Taiwan’s presence in the global market, ensuring the world sees the collective strength of Team Taiwan.
